Iqra' with Arabic Notebooking
In this lesson we separated the harf from the ism to make the phrases in our iqra' book. I had a larger sheet where the phrases are written in and the child has to match the harf with the ism provided and
glue it into the page.
I find such lessons more interactive than just teaching and pointing out mistakes which can be dull at times.
What more, as we are doing a lot of subjects there is a need to try to link them for practical reasons. Furthermore, the children will also be able to see how different parts of their learning are interlinked and from a connected web of what they have learned.
Extension
As the child moves more towards joined letters, she may encounter greater difficulty with relating these with individual letters.
I like to use notebooking where the child has to match the individual letters with the phrase.
I try using colours the child likes to make it more attractive and use different styles of flaps or cutouts for variety. This is applicable for any notebooking activity.
