budak central
I went to watch Kid's Central Live today, courtesy of my uncle. I mean $38 can buy me the marketing for a week, seriously!Multiplying that by four would a cover a whole month's. So there I was with my 3 kids all the way from CCK, trying not to go bonkers every time the middle one throws a tantrum while waiting for hubby who was coming from every geek's dream sale, COMEX, as he was part of the demo team for his company.
Actually, my kids don't even know the Teen Titans, Justice League Unlimited and I can't remember the third one cause mummy has a policy about what they watch and superhero shows certainly don't fit into the philosophy. However, they do watch kid's central so they saw the adverts which came fast and hard.
When the curtains came up, however, I was trying very hard to link between what was being shown before my eyes and all the kids sitting there awestruck waiting for their heroes.The first show was about the Teen Titans trying to teach one of their new members what a party was.
One of the characters was going on about how people were impressed with his dancing skills and all these great parties he goes to that he can one day take the new member along.There was singing and dancing and singing and more dancing.Everybody was trying to act cool.Huh? is this a show about clubbing?
As I was still trying to recover from the club scene of people masquarading as superheroes I was transported to a cabaret posing as a magic show posing as a feminist propaganda epic which I thought at first was a musical collaboration with Santana.
Turns out, it's about Zantanna a superheroine cum magician, whose understanding of a black tie event is where you wear a pair of volleyball shorts, shirt and penguin tail coat and her fellow Wonder Woman, who certainly doesn't go shopping for outer clothings and another character, whose name I can't decipher, with a mask that covers her face and wings that seem to cramp her movements, well at least she was more clothed than the other two.
In the scene where they fight evil, The Shade, who reminded me of Johnny Depp in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, they talked about how girl power can overcome the big, bad guys. I certainly hope the girls out there watching don't think they have to do it looking like them. Nor do I think women should be potrayed so sexily to the boys watching.Isn't the fashion world a bad enough influence? I mean they are kids at most only 12 years old.
We left before the third show came on.Mostly because it's past nine, my kids' bedtime, and also because, we feel we've seen and have let the kids seen enough. I told my husband to remind me to not let the kids watch Teen Titans and whatever the other shows were. Should they organise another show we won't come even if it's for free.
Now, if only I can delete my kids' memory of tonight's show....

I thought they also have fun activities outside the stadium? My sis got free tickets too courtesy of CCF. Yet to hear her review.
anyway, today we went to the RSAF open house, now that's one good show for the kids.
Not only do they have real jetfighters, helicopters and aeroplanes on display;
there are three exhibition and activity areas, including a fun zone for the kids to play in.
the down side is you have to wait a long time to climb into the different planes, especially the F16, cause the open house gets really crowded as the day progresses so come early.
my fave is the aerial display.but they only have two shows one in the morning and the other in the evening.
in between there are precision drills, armoring of planes display and performances by the SAF Music and Drama company;so plan ahead to choose which you prefer...
anyway there's only one show each year and the next one's tmrw, 3rd Sept...hope you catch it!
