Our lesson for week 2-6 July

I thought I'd share my weekly lesson plan. It's a good way for me to discipline myself in planning the lessons while sharing what I'm doing. I'm not much good at making my own materials nor trying to be interesting during lessons but I try.

I have to state for the record that my methods are not purely Montessorian but an eclectic mix of what I think best suits my children.I'm currently more organised for my eldest son Ihsan (5) coz Umayr(4) is learning at a very extended rate on things while Sofiyya(almost 2) is sort of just absorbing whatever we give her...so my schedule gets more erratic for them....

Bonjour Les Amis from www.montereymedia.com

States of Matter from www.libraryvideo.com

As with any Montessorian materials these lessons, wherever possible, are laid out on shelves that the children can work on anytime they want.( I'm trying very hard not to be too stingy on those expensive art materials).

I also do a more basic presentation for Umayr for some of the lessons that I do with Ihsan. For example when teaching basic functions of different parts of the plant, Umayr will just match the 3-part cards of 'parts of a plant' or just names them.
