The children were down last week with viral fever after an activity-filled five-day-long Chinese New Year Holiday. Sofiyya was down the longest with her temperature coming up again after being well for a day but she is now up and running as usual and her appetite has returned.

We managed to start off school today after spending yesterday morning at the library for school. I tried to start Ihsan off on his azan and iqamat competition at his weekend madrasah with Syeikh Misyari's rendition of the azan but I guess I was too ambitious but the beautiful azan must have inspired him cause he was not fussing too much about it. We'll just have to continue practicing.

I found a treasure of a book yesterday for Sofiyya called Renoir's Colors by Marie Sellier. The book introduces children to colours with two introduction pages in a particular colour with a focus on a part of a Renoir that a child can see on opening a window. The next page then describes the whole painting in relation to the focus area.

Luckily for me, Sofiyya is not colour blind and she was the one who confirmed for me what some of the colours are. Ihsan was found to be colour blind at a recent check up. He had inherited my other medical condition- thalassaemia minor- too. Alhamdulillah, at least they are nothing serious.

We are looking forward to the kids' introduction to rock climbing at Safra Yishun tomorrow. I wish I can climb myself : )I'm sure Umayr would enjoy himself, he's been climbing all over the house since he's been mobile.
