Pi of my eye
Today we learned about pi. I know pi day has passed but we happen to have been doing area and perimeter for Sofi and was moving on to circles. I cut out a few circles and then decided to cut many so we can use them for craft.
I let Sofi and Sarah measure the circumference and diameter and we find out that when we divide C by d on the calculator we get around the same value each time and this was pi. It wasn't a nice figure but I hope the kids get the idea.
I then worked out with Sofi how we can get the formula for circumference from here and insyaAllah we will learn the history of pi and how we get area of a circle next.
We measured the circumference by putting a string around the circle and then measuring the string on a ruler. This inspired me to make string hair for the circles and Sarah then decided to make a family portrait. Aren't those button eyes spooky-cute?
