Gravity experiment

The experiment

The baby experiment

Today we learned about gravitational force as our first physics lesson for this term. I have pretty much given up trying to carry out experiments based on household items as I realise I end up searching for items and forgetting about them and not doing experiments at all.

We bougth our kit from the Science Centre for about $50 and I plan to use this for the next two months for our physics block. Although its meant for Ihsan, the other children, including Sarah, joined in. Ihsan does the extra of having to record what he did, saw and learned from the experiment.

To satisfy national requirements, Ihsan also studies the national schools curriculum and (get this!) he likes doing the assessments. I do this for the other subjects too. So, the children goes through the regular school books, reviews and tests to make sure they know the national syllabus as their written work and reading load for the day and we carry our own homeschool lessons which I feel enriches and extends on their regular work.

Salaam Sis,

I did not see any e-mail address on your webbie so I hope you don't mind me posting here. I'm doing some research on homeschooling because I'm considering doing it for my daughter when she's older. (She's only 3 months now, but I'd like to prepare early). Was wondering if you can contact me so I can ask you some questions? You can contact me at ayudayana@gmail.com. Really hope to hear from you.

Thank you!
