Muslim Homeschoolers Fair
We will be having our first ever Singapore Muslim Homeschoolers Fair this 29th May, 2016 at Masjid Sultan. Do join us.
I will be there insyaAllah to share my homeschooling experience. Would love to meet new homeschoolers or anyone who wants to learn more about it. I will also have a booth to share on online learning and HS organisation. I remember many years ago feeling like the only person HS in this world and searching for other homeschoolers. Subhanallah. Allahu Musta,an.
Sis Sukesy is an experienced HS of 5 and qualified engineer who has been with me for almost all my HS journey. She is also an experienced tutor who knows the Singapore system very well. Sis Diana is an ex-teacher who has decided to HS part of her brood of six. For the Daddies talk, Dr Khairudin is an associate professor and well-known public speaker whose wife is HS one of their sons.
I initially wanted to hibernate as we prepare our sons for major exams this year, but God knows when we'll have such an event again, so I kepo-lah. Plus I never imagined this day will come when I started out. O Allah please make it easy for me and my family: )
At home, I have been trying to tie myself to the chair to read and follow the IGCSE and PSLE syllabus. Conforming is very difficult for me but I always tell myself this is about my sons' future. So, I've been a good girl and following instructions, though not necessarily the "tuition" way, I loathe that.
As for my second re-taking his PSLE for not meeting the cut-off for HSrs, I have been keeping a tight rein on that cheeky boy and am stricter with him. We have been doing some secondary one work though and this is just a formality that hopefully my second will now take seriously.
Sofi is improving with Math, which makes me think whether I should get her tested still, but I guess it's better to make sure. Plus, there's that extra time factor that could be crucial for her in major exams.
As for the babies, I am having a Montessori Renaissance! Yes, you heard it right. We are coming home. If it works out, I will do it for Sofi too. But first I have to shed the house off all the slack we have been collecting all these neglected years. Sometimes the more you clean the messier the house gets. All in good time insyaAllah.
