Feb 3-6 Monte Class Week 2

Inspiration came late today, but just in time. We started class with reading 'We are going on a Bear Hunt'. I read to the tone of what I can remember from a pre-performance drama festival and added the actions that I did together with the girls.

Where there were repetitions (and there were many) I encouraged them to read along. I think they enjoyed it. I think...

So, probably inspired from a grammar lecture I heard yesterday, we did prepositions, one of the many grammar activities you can do with the book.

We had two bears that accompanied us through the storytelling and the kids used them to show 'on', 'under', 'over', 'through', and 'in'.

After that the children did some work from the shelves; brown stairs extension, pouring from jug to jug and pouring from jug into a container through a funnel.

Thereafter we had our routine backyard session and when we came back we had a lesson on geometric solids.

This week I introduced them to 3 more shapes- ellipsoid, rectangular prism and cone. After the 3-part lesson, I hid six shapes (3 more from last week- square-based pyramid, cube and shere) around the 'school' area as the children closed their eyes. They then have to search for the shapes.

To help them, I laid out the cards for all the shapes and each time the children found one they put it above the respective cards.

The children went on to play at least 3 rounds by themselves. While this was going on, two other students were painting.

Thereafter, I let the children choose their own activities while I worked with each child.

And that was our school today, most of it...
