Al Tilmeedh Arabic Letters Poster

I used Al Tilmeedh when I just started homeschooling about 10 years ago. I was reminded of them from instagram recently and was happy to learn that they now have a website where I can conveniently purchase their products.

Yesterday, I bought their Arabic Alphabet Poster for my five and 2 year old and was thinking of how I can use them to teach my girls. I quickly put pen to paper as I have this bad habit of forgetting my ideas when I need to use them. I was surprised at how many different ways you can use a poster and hopefully they would be useful to you too.

After printing the posters on A4 sized papers in colour, I laminated the posters for durability. These are the different ways you can present the posters:

A.

1. Point to the letter and name or sound it. (I use the phonetic sound for each letter and introduce the signs later).
2. Say letter name/sound followed by word. E.g. 'a' is for 'asad'

B.
1. Read words to student.
2. Student repeats words.
3. Read one of the words from the poster randomly (Can 'aina _____'?)and ask student to point to the word/ picture of item mentioned.
4. If student correctly points to all items in (3) point to items randomly (Can introduce 'ma haza?') and ask student to name/read it.

C.
1. Review names of each item on the poster.
2. Ask what the names mean in English.
3. Teacher writes down the English name with an erasable marker.
4. Read Arabic and English name for each item. Student repeats after teacher.

D.
1. Review Arabic-English names.
2. Erase English labels.
3. Give English/Arabic names and ask student to give corresponding Arabic/ English names.

E
1. Provide English labels.
2. Student labels each item in English.

F
1. Student traces Arabic names on poster with erasable marker.
2. Student writes English and Arabic names pairs in exercise books.

G.
1. Write Arabic names in student exercise book.
2. Student breaks up Arabic names into individual letters.

H.
1. Student matches pictures of items to Arabic names.
2. Student labels pictures of items in Arabic and English in exercise books.
