After more than a year homeschooling, it can still be a challenge to start the school day. I don't know whether it's fatigue, we have not had long breaks but days off here and there, but I really have to push myself on certain days.
I mean, if it was a job, I'd have to do the same. So, ,my trick is just to have routines. We start with clean up as the Quran is playing in the background. At times, the children just get interested in the surah and come out of the playroom themselves. Otherwise, somehow they love story time so much, they come out no matter what they're doing.
Then I'd go through Ihsan's workplan. It's easier with him cause he can take control somehow of his day and be more independent. As for Umayr, I have to ask him to choose his work and go around with him most of the time. On a good day, there will be a point where he'd settle down and start working on his own.
Sofiyya's usually in the shadows. I'd really have to get more materials suitable for her in the environment. Along with the realisation that it's March comes the worry that I have not been covering curriculum. We're really far back. Too much extensions?
I'm still trying to find the balance between flexibility and covering the albums. Hope I'd get there.
Today, I tried the fishbowl words with Umayr. He struggled at times, but it was comforting when he figured out the words. It's Allah's way of telling me not to give up. As for Ihsan, he's the usual firebrand. In fact, he's still at work now, soaking up more dinosaur information. Like he doesn't do enough of that stuff everyday. His siblings are blissfully enjoying their afternoon nap.
