Monday, Monday...I wish it was Sunday
Phew, got through Monday though not without its glitches and tops blown. For Arabic Ihsan did his an-Nawawi 40 hadith copywork which I got to know about from this Arabiclearningmaterials mailing group. Today he looked at the actual book to put the shaqal; I realised that there was a misarrangement towards the end of the first hadith but I need to check whether it was my printer or the actual document that did the mistake.
He of course took an hour to do this, in between fiddling with anything nearby and disturbing his siblings. The younger children did an extension on 'Animals and Their Young' which we started by reading 'Farm Babies' by Jacqueline McQuade last week. Today I got them to read the repetitive lines from the book and match animals and their babies from www.sparklebox.co.uk. The children also drew their favourite animal and its baby into their science notebook.
Earlier in the morning, after our storytime, we read 'If You Were a Capital Letter' by Trisha Speed Shaskan. I got the younger ones to highlight the capital letters in their reader for this month and cut out a newspaper article for Ihsan, which was about his favourite topic-FOOD!
Sofiyya got it right the first few pages but started highlighting without a pattern that I can discern thereafter and Umayr was highlighting every first letter of all the words! Ok, I think we need another lesson. Ihsan was ok, he should be, but he had to explain to me the reasons why the letters were capitalised and use the book if need be. Actually, he still writes capital for no particular reason sometimes in his work and it just frustrates me sometimes.
Yesterday, we went to Vivocity after a wedding; we were all dressed up and can't possibly just go back (which I should have considering the housework and homeschooling and everything else piling up at home)The boys bought remote control cars (we'll see how long this one will last) with the money their grandparents gave and Sofiyya got a new tiara to replace her nth spoiled/lost one.

We had a nice surprise when a group of drummers dressed like toy soldiers played at the children's play area and made silly antics as they performed. The kids truly enjoyed it,plus they got to play the water afterwards; except Umayr who didn't want to get his nice clothes wet.
