Flower Story
It all started with a gust of wind that made me float through the air and land on a feathery being that caused me to go even higher (brush paper with water sparingly). I travelled across green fields (paint part of lower area area green), oceans (paint area below the green blue)
and pale blue skies (paint area above green a lighter shade of blue). Sometimes the sun would shine through the clouds (paint rays of yellow emanating from a source) that I felt I would shrivel up into the thin air. Before long I found myself on soft, familiar ground.( paint a darker shade of green in the previous green). The dampness and the warmth made me want to stretch for joy towards them (using a finer brush paint the roots and the shoot). I soon found myself looking up to the blue sky each day and I wanted to give back to the beauty that had given me such happiness, that my arms broke out in colours (as you speak make the plant taller, add some branches for arms, leaves and add flowers to some of them). In the day, my friends would come buzzing and rest on my blossoming arms. For their company, I gave them a sweet fluid and in turn they spread my future family through the lands. ( touch up on the painting) How beautiful life is when we give as much or more than we receive.
This lesson is a culmination of what we have covered for the past few months. I chose to not name the actors in the story so that I can let the kids guess what they are and at the same I would be able to gauge their level of understanding. You can also incorporate the colour wheel, botany, giving and bird migration but the main point is for the kids to have fun. They can also see that writing words are not the only way to express their understanding.
