Pipe Cleaners
Last week we discovered pipe cleaners at our favourite Daiso store at IMM. Now I can no longer use that as an excuse to go to Harbourfront. Thanks to a fellow homeschooler, my kids got interested in making crafts with it. I even used it to teach my daughter 'tens'. I bought some beads with rings on top of them and we beaded them onto the pipe cleaners to make bangles of ten.
My kids of course had more creative ways of playing with them. Ihsan started the ball rolling when he made a stick man with a guitar, so Umayr had to make one too. He made one with long hair for his sister holding a mirror. She later brought the 'dolls' (we made another one) to play with when we went out for lunch.
I finally managed to set aside an art shelf. My plan is to put simple craft and paint the kids can use anytime, especially during Ramadan. At present, I've got pipe cleaners, paint and brushes, embossers and namecard sized blank cards, blank papers and colour pencils. I'm thinking of putting dough and Ramadan craft sets like that for lamps and moonscapes.
I'm trying to rejuvenate my science shelf too. For now we have a 'light' tray filled with a kaleidoscope , prism and magnifying glass. Coincidentally, I found my moon phases cards, it's fated, behind the art shelf when I moved it to the living room. Another idea I'm playing with is a food preparation shelf where I can put things the kids, and I,can use to help me with cooking and baking.
Ok, time to get back to my revamp.
