December Rain
Sometimes God makes us sick so that we can stay still and ponder on what matters most. Life can be too rushed and distracted, we are constantly running after what we can't get and falling over what we have.
My baby and I have been under the weather since the weekends and that means we have to stay home! After all the excitement last week, I am thankful for not having a choice and having to force myself to prepare my environment and lessons.
Work on clearing the house has actually started in October but in between there has been a family crisis, exams frustrations and other life distractions.
There have been temptations for new curricula and other materials but I have made a new resolution to use what I already have, make my own materials and look things up online, only purchasing when I meet a wall.
So, alhamdulillah, we move on somewhat today. Below you can see the toddler and preschool corner and a practical skills book I made today. If I can make the book, anyone can!
The shelves' contents are not quite ready yet, but the idea is emerging (I hope it's realised before January). Under the small bench, you can see the seasons mat I made for the astronomy co-op.
When I need to do presentations on the floor or when the children need to do floor work, we just remove the table and chair.
I plan to finish by this week in syaa Allah. What I have learnt is however you'll always be working, adjusting and refining on something. So I'd just go ahead and teach even when my prep is incomplete and take a breather when I need to.
