Mid-Ramadan Week Planner

Insyaallah, this is my plan for this week. I hope I don't get too distracted with the 'cultural' side of the upcoming Eid and will persevere for the coming weeks, insyaallah.

Day 13

Circle
Aim: Seeking the right guidance in life

Talk about the special things that we do during Ramadan; fasting, terawih, read more Quran, learn more about Islam…

Read this verse and its meaning;
Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful.
Ayah 185, Sura 2 (Al-Baqara), translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali[7]

Remind the children of the lesson on the Prophet’s first revelation last week.
(we read from Prophet Muhammad by Iqra Foundation)

Talk about how this month is special as the ayat said that the quran was revealed in this month.

Talk about how Angel Jibrail would come and the Prophet would revise his Quran with him.

Highlight the part of the ayat about the quran being a clear sign for guidance and judgement.
Give situations like a disagreement, taking something or pretending to do something.

• How do we decide if what we do is right or wrong?
• We can ask an adult, teacher,or look up a book. However, best reference is the quran and hadith.
• If we don’t know where to find an answer or dare to ask anyone, we can also make du’a to Allah for guidance.
• We should especially make special effort to train ourselves to stop and think of our actions this month as Allah has chained syaitan and closed the door of jahannam and syaitan would not be able to whisper bad deeds to us. Hopefully, in other months we have trained ourselves well enough to counter him.

Day 15

Circle

Aim: To instill the spirit of exploration with a knowledge that whatever we know is with His blessing only.

Read ‘The Space Race’ from DK Eyewitness’ ‘Moon’.

O assembly of jinns and men! If you have power to pass beyond the zones of the heavens and the earth, then pass (them)! But you will never be able to pass them, except with authority (from Allâh)!

33: 55

Talk about how the Russians and the Americans competed to get to the moon first.

Relate the competition to the verse above.

Would they have made it without Allah’s blessings?

Talk about how we have not been able to go to other planets.

Stress that knowledge itself is not enough, that one can only achieve the best of this life and the hereafter with Allah’s blessings.

We must not be proud of the knowledge that we have because whatever we know is a gift from Allah.

You may want to quote some of these verses with relation to pride from http://www.islamicemirate.com/discover/personal-development/1728-luqmans-advice-to-his-son.html;

7. Arrogance is an attribute of Allâh alone and not for man.
The Creator and Owner of the universe is the only One who deserves to be Arrogant. Allâh threatens arrogant people with punishment in Hellfire. Luqmân said:
"And turn not your face away from men with pride." [31:18]
8. To be moderate is a great attitude anyone can possess,
"Nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily Allâh likes not each arrogant boaster." [31:18]
Allâh does not like that man is arrogant and proud of themselves.
9. To be moderate in walking and talking is also one of Luqman's advises to his son,
"And be moderate (or show no insolence) in walking." [31:19]
Islâm offers a code of conduct in every aspect of life. Even the way Muslims walk and talk are regulated. Islam offers guidelines in this regard that will produce the best behavior and generate respect.
10. Luqmân reminds his son that being harsh while talking will liken his voice to the braying of a donkey. Shouting does not win hearts, rather , it will offend and alienate people,
"And lower your voice. Verily the harshest of all voices is the voice (braying] of a donkey!!" [31:19]
Luqmân shows great wisdom in his advice to his son.
