Day 7
Dos and don’ts of Ramadan
Aim: That fasting is a school of discipline that trains us to be better Muslims.
O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint, – [Quran 2:183]
Narrated Abu Huraira(r.a): The Prophet said:"... whoever fasts during Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven." (Sahih Al-Bukhari).
• Print out the Ramadan Highway Code from http://www.yanabi.com/forum/Topic338444.aspx
• Look through the poster and highlight that things in red are what we shouldn’t do and things in blue are what we should do
• Discuss the things that we should do.
Zikr
So increase during this month of four qualities: two with which you shall please your Lord, and two which you cannot do without. The two that shall please Allah are the repitition of La Illaha Ill Allah and Istighfaar (asking forgiveness), and the two qualities you cannot do without are asking Allah to be allowed into Paradise and taking refuge in Him from Hell" [Taken from the Prophet (salallahu alayhi wasallam's) khutbah on the last day of Sha'baan]
Zakat
Who is he that will loan to Allah a beautiful loan, which Allah will double unto his credit and multiply many times? It is Allah that giveth (you) Want or plenty, and to Him shall be your return. - [Quran 2:245]
Giving
The Prophet said: He who gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will receive the same reward as him, except that nothing will be reduced from the fasting persons reward." [Ahmad, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah, Ibn Hibbaan, Saheeh].
• Discuss the things that we shouldn’t do.
Narated By Abu Huraira : The Prophet said, "Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink ( i.e. Allah will not accept his fasting.)" – [Sahih Bukhari, Vol.3, Book 31, #127]
• Read the verses and hadith to support what the poster dis/encourages.
